This week of workshops concluded with a performative presentation that encapsulated the concepts explored by participants under the guidance of artists Virginia Negru, Smaranda Gabudeanu, and Oana Baluta.
The event was open to the general public, regardless of their level of experience in the performing arts. We emphasized the importance of having a diverse audience, comprising individuals of various ages and experiences.
Poetic Movement is a practice of dance and composition through movement that sensitizes and awakens the embodied memory and imagination of the dancer, bringing it into the present space and time and transforming it through attention. Dance as real movement, in real time and space with poetic intention. Poetic Movement is a practice initiated by dancer and choreographer Stephen Batts, UK.

VIRGINIA NEGRU is a dancer and workshop facilitator of dance and contact improvisation in Romania. She has explored various forms of dance and movement and has collaborated with renowned teachers from both Romania and abroad. SMARANDA GĂBUDEANU began her formal education with studies in acting and puppetry and continued with contemporary dance and visits to various artistic environments, her work has an interdisciplinary perspective that integrates different practices and approaches. The body is at the center of her activities both as material and as a perspective from which she investigates.
OANA BALUTA began intense movement practice when she was involved in high-level basketball, but it was only after connecting with Virginia Negru that she realized the importance of presence in the body even at rest. Out of passion for bodily practices, she traveled to Sweden and Asia to practice Contact Improvisation, Axis Syllabus, Feldenkrais, Body-Mind Centering, Ecstatic Dance, and Yoga alongside international teachers and dancers. Since 2016, she has been a co-founder of the Bucharest Contact Festival and an image collaborator for the Association for Theater and Book PETEC.
